< Welcome to the Animon Multiverse >

[Version 0.2.1 is out!]

- Important: I need feedback on the balancing of ROGUE FIELDS. It's likely too hard now, but with lots of feedback we can create a great game experience

[Info: This game is in a very early stage, please stay tuned for further updates]

In this classic monster taming game you will enter the Animon Multiverse, a never ending adventure of different worlds and challenges, featuring the creatures called ANIMONs.

This version contains 2 game modes:

In the TUTORIAL mode, you take the role of a young ANIMON trainer that works for a man called KITA. What seems to be a simple task, turns out to be a big adventure. This mode shows the core mechanics of the game by sending you through a small scale adventure peaking into an epic battle with a powerful mystic ANIMON.

ROGUE FIELDS game mode is a procedurally generated challenge consisting of 100 consecutive maps to beat. There can be submaps like caves, houses or shops. While caves are usually a bit more dangerous, there is always a reward inside, like a rare item or a rare Animon.

You can save your game anytime, but it's a QuickSave to prevent save scumming, only allowing to take well deserved breaks between sessions. So when you load the ROGUE FIELDS save state, it gets deleted -> so save again when in need! (stated in game as well)

Keep in mind that this game mode is still experimental and needs improvements in balancing, map creation and features (which will happen over time).

MORE CHANGES:

  • 10 new ANIMON, starters can now evolve once!
  • more attacks resulting in 90 different attack moves in total
  • more items resulting 65 different items
  • Global and Local Anipedia providing interesting information about the ANIMONs
  • Added running feature (when you have RUNNING SHOES, hold B)
  • Achievement-System: Obtain 16 different MEDALS for completing tasks (like catch 30 different ANIMONs etc...)
  • Tutorial Mode contains a new area and old areas are slightly changed
  • Lots of bug fixes
  • Lots of new bugs (hopefully this stays just a joke ^^)

Enjoy the game!

hi again! i've attempted to play rogue fields, but after choosing my first animon, attempting to leave through the door at the top immediately crashes the game. i tried this twice, to the same effect. i wish i could give more input on this game mode, but im unfortunately unable to start it in earnest. i don't know if it's an issue on my end or a legitimate bug, but it did unfortunately stop my progress there

also, when i attempted to play the tutorial version, i was unfortunately not able to use the running shoes at all after receiving them. however, it was a joy to see more animons, attacks, items, and npcs added to the tutorial mode! i'll have to tackle all the new content in the tutorial version very soon and do a thorough playthrough! :] thank you!

Hi,

That sounds like bugs on my end, I will take a look and let you know when I fixed it. Can you give me the seed numbers for the Rogue Fields Games you've attempted to play? That would be of great help! I'm sorry for the inconvenience!

(1 edit) (+1)

Okay so far I have found nothing on my end.

If you play again, try to enter a seed number manually when starting a new game. Each seed from 0000000 - 0000100 was hand tested and should not crash.

If it crashes, please specify your system specs, so I can look further into this.

Running Shoes do work on my end as well, both with a gamepad and Keyboard (virtual B-Button is mapped to S-Key, later you will be able to customize your input mappings)

Thank you for your help!

Hi,

I absolutely loved the tutorial mode of your game, but unfortunately, I’m experiencing the same problem as the other commenter.

I’m on a Silicon Mac running CrossOver Version 22. As the other commenter reported, the game crashes immediately upon leaving the laboratory in Rogue Fields mode. I’ve experienced this with both the 0.2 and 0.2.1 versions of the game, regardless of which seed numbers I use (most recently, I’ve tried 1 and 10).

Fortunately, I was able to get a crash report out of CrossOver. There seems to be some sort of directory not found exception going on. The game seems to have an explicit reference to a directory (and user), and so crashes when it fails to find it in the CrossOver bottle.

This was what I found at the top of the stack trace. I don’t know if it’s real or just a quirk of CrossOver, but I figured it would be helpful to give you the lead. Please let me know if you’d like the full stack trace.

System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path "C:\Users\pcatt\Desktop\JavaScriptGames\RogueMonWeb\not_include\procgen\floor1.tmx".

I’ll be looking forward to getting the full experience of your game. I already know it’s shaping out to be amazing.

Hi!

Thank you very much for the detailed report!

This is very strange since in Rogue Fields, the game should actually not load maps from hard drive like in Tutorial Mode but your error message says so. I will take a look into that and try to fix it asap!

Also I am glad you like the game so far! Thank you!

I just uploaded a new version, could you try it again please?

Hope this works now!

It worked!

I just had my first trainer battle in Rogue Fields mode, was able to create a quicksave, and was able to load that quicksave both before and after closing the game entirely.

My current seed number is #3200053, so there seems to be no problems on my end with random seeds either.

Great job and thanks for the quick turnaround! I was really excited to get to playing!

that's a relief... Thank you for the quick test!

It was so stupid of me...

I left my debug map saving on... It was trying to find the absolute path you provided in the error message to save the generated maps...

Great, everything should be working now!

I hope you enjoy! :)

Hi there!

Just wanted to let you know that the issues are fixed now in version 0.2.2!

Hope you enjoy!

this game makes me so incredibly happy :') it feels like a perfect homage to pokemon while still feeling fresh and original with the whole special moves thing. when the tutorial was over i literally went "NOOO" aloud haha!

if you happen to make a discord for the game, i would be thrilled to follow along in its progress <3

Hi!

Thank you so much for the kind comment and the cute fan art! :)

Glad you have enjoyed the game so far!

I'm sorry the tutorial ended too early for you BUT I have good news:

This week a big (and free) content update will go up and it would be great to have you check it out again!

Some new features are:

- around 10 new Animon (first evolutions of the starters as well)

- Lots of new items and attacks

- Global and local Anipedia (Pokédex)

- Added Running Shoes for faster movement

- New Game Mode: Rogue Fields (try to beat 100 procedurally generated maps)

- Achievement medals for different kinds of things (catching mons, beating trainers etc...)

- and some more stuff I just don't remember at the moment

I'll let you know as soon as the game has it's own Discord server, maybe this month when I find some time.

Thank you again and have a good day!

Libra

loved this demo. :) gen 2 of pokemon is my favourite, so the look & sound of this game feels so at home! i loved all the available animon and felt really invested in seeing what all their evolutions looked like. every animon having their own special attack is also sooo cool. i can't wait to see more!!

Thank you very much for your feedback!

I'm glad you like it so far! :)

A new update will come very soon. I wish I could make it faster but designing, pixeling and coding new Animon takes quite some time..

Should'nt be long until the update though!

of course, take your time!! i understand there's a ton of work for every new animon you add, and that's not even touching on the other aspects of the game you have to make too. very excited to hear that it's coming soon though. :)

Review for Animon Multiverse:

I recently played the tutorial level available in the latest demo of Animon Multiverse, and I have to say from the start, it had me hooked from the first second to the last. It gives you a flashback to the good old retro graphics and pixel art styles of yesteryear as soon as you start the game. Pokémon fans in particular will be very happy about this.

Right at the start, it offers you the opportunity to explore freely in the town where you start, have a few nice conversations and find out what you can do.

As soon as you enter the doctor's laboratory, the first thing you get is your starting Animon, which you can choose. We have fire, water and plant. Once we have decided which starter we want, our journey through the world begins with a task.

Right from the start, I felt the urge to catch all the Animons that are available in the individual areas, and I immediately lost myself in leveling them up. So I was only busy leveling once, but also exploring the towns/villages and the surrounding forest section. Once I was well leveled up, I wanted to get started on the quest the doctor gave me, and it was an epic and fascinating journey I got to experience. It was mixed with losing battles, which were great fun.

But I also managed to win a few battles along the way. At the end of this journey, there was even a legendary battle against a legendary Animon, which I even successfully caught! I was also able to chat with the developer, who was in the chat, about further content to come, updates and other aspects of the game! Overall, I would now like to come to my rating, which I'm sure will surprise a few people. I give Animon Multiverse a smooth 10/10 points! I am very happy about the full version of this game and will follow its development with great anticipation.

Regards Nebelpelz
